The second of these two concepts is ‘Language as a part of human Behaviour’. No one would deny that language is a feature of human behaviour; and none would deny that language is expressed within a context. Tagmemics, however, takes these two facts strongly into consideration in its analysis. A political speech makes sense within its political and social context, for example. A series of instructions is elucidated by the details of its setting. These ‘truths’ are, for the most part, self-evident.
